How does this tournament format work?
This format combines a group stage with extensive placement finals. The 60 teams first play in 25 groups. Based on their finishing position in the group, they are then divided into final groups in which the definitive final standings are decided.

Structure of the final rounds
A complete final group of eight teams consists of three rounds. Four matches are played in the first round. Matches for the upper and lower halves of the final group then follow. In the final round, each individual final position is contested.
Final rounds with 60 teams
With 60 teams, 7 complete final groups of eight can be formed. A total of 56 teams continue through cross-over and placement finals. After this division, 4 teams remain.
The final four teams play two semi-finals. The winners then play for positions 57 and 58, while the losers play for positions 59 and 60. This determines all four remaining final positions individually.
