How does this tournament format work?
This format combines a group stage with extensive placement finals. The 41 teams first play in 14 groups. Based on their finishing position in the group, they are then divided into final groups in which the definitive final standings are decided.

Structure of the final rounds
The ranking in the initial group stage determines the rest of the tournament. Eight teams at a time are brought together in a final group. They then play three further matches, with cross-over and placement matches determining each team's final position.
Final rounds with 41 teams
After the group stage, 40 of the 41 teams are divided into 5 final groups of eight. Each complete final group plays twelve matches. An adapted final stage is used for the remaining 1 teams.
One team remains after the complete final groups have been formed. No separate additional match is possible for this team, so the position resulting from the previous stage becomes the final position in the tournament.
