How does this tournament format work?
In this tournament format, 45 teams first play a group stage in 15 groups. The teams are then divided according to their ranking into final groups of up to eight teams. Within these groups, they continue playing for the individual final positions.

Structure of the final rounds
Each complete group of eight teams plays twelve final-stage matches. The first four matches divide the teams between the subsequent placement matches. Winners and losers then follow separate paths that determine which final positions they contest in their last match.

After the group stage, 40 of the 45 teams are divided into 5 final groups of eight. Each complete final group plays twelve matches. An adapted final stage is used for the remaining 5 teams.
The final five teams are divided into one group of three and one group of two. After the group matches, the two group winners play each other for the two highest remaining final positions. The two runners-up play for the next two positions. The third-placed team in the group of three has completed its matches and receives the final position.
