How does this tournament format work?
This format combines a group stage with extensive placement finals. The 63 teams first play in 24 groups. Based on their finishing position in the group, they are then divided into final groups in which the definitive final standings are decided.

Structure of the final rounds
A complete final group of eight teams consists of three rounds. Four matches are played in the first round. Matches for the upper and lower halves of the final group then follow. In the final round, each individual final position is contested.

With 63 teams, 7 complete final groups of eight can be formed. A total of 56 teams continue through cross-over and placement finals. After this division, 7 teams remain.
For the final seven teams, the four highest-ranked teams play two semi-finals followed by a final and a consolation final. The other three teams form a separate group in which they determine the final three positions among themselves.
