Structure of the final rounds
The ranking in the initial group stage determines the rest of the tournament. Eight teams at a time are brought together in a final group. They then play three further matches, with cross-over and placement matches determining each team's final position.
Final rounds with 11 teams
After the group stage, 8 of the 11 teams are divided into 1 final groups of eight. Each complete final group plays twelve matches. An adapted final stage is used for the remaining 3 teams.
The final three teams form a separate final group. Each team plays the other two teams. The final standings in this group determine positions 9 through 11.
