We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Ilchester Youth Football Club’s 2024 summer tournament.
Our tournament is being run this weekend with the children’s enjoyment being the focus. We are actively promoting the FA’s RESPECT campaign and encourage all players and supporters alike to approach the tournament in a good sportsmanship manner and actively support ALL children here today.
The children’s safety is of utmost importance to us here at the club. We politely remind you to remain behind the respect barriers during matches.
Furthermore, a first aid tent is located on site (see map) should you need it throughout the weekend. Water will always be available, free of charge, within the club house.
To ensure safeguarding requirements are met, we politely remind you that any photographs taken must be with all team managers’ consent.
Aside from great football being on display today, there will be numerous refreshment stalls on offer for you to enjoy throughout the day.
This tournament could not go ahead without the support from the Sports Field Committee, the numerous sponsors, coaches, players and their supporters. Ilchester Football Club cannot thank you all enough for advocating both the club and this event.
Everyone here at the club will endeavour to ensure you have a thoroughly enjoyable day and we hope to see you again next year.

A. Every team needs to complete a player registration form which is to be handed in during the registration periods stated below:
1. 8:45am to 9:15am – Under 7, Under 8, Under 9 and Under 10
2. 1pm to 1:30pm – Under 11, Under 12, Under 13, Under 14 and Under 15
All participating players should play in the appropriate age goup as indicated on the player registration form. Age groups refer to the 2023/2024 season. As per FA rules, players are allowed to play one age category up from their actual age, but must not play below their current age group. Any players not complying with this ruling will be excluded from the tournament. Team managers may be requested to supply proof of players’ age. Only players on the registration form will be permitted to play.
No academy players are permitted to participate in the tournament.
B. All age groups barring Under 7 and Under 8, will be run on a league basis with 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss. If points are equal after all league games have been played, then goal difference will decide placing. In the event of goal difference being the same, the higher number of goals scored will determine placing. If still equal, the result between the two tied teams will determine placing. If teams are still tied, then a penalty shootout (3 penalties then sudden death) will determine the winner. Teams that finish in the top 2 positions of each group will proceed to the knockout stages. In categories with only one group, the top 4 teams will progress to knockout stages.
C. Length of group games across all age categories will be 10 minutes. Games played in the knockout stages will be 7 minutes each way with a maximum of a minute change around between halves. If scores are level in a semi-final or final, the game will proceed to extra time which will be 6 minutes in total, and teams must change ends after 3 minutes. A maximum 1 minute interval is permitted. If teams are still tied, then a penalty shootout (3 penalties then sudden death) will determine the winner.
D. The laws of association football will apply in all games but with the following exceptions:
1. No offside.
2. Normal throw-ins will be used throughout age categories.
3. All free kicks will be direct.
4. At all kicks, resulting from a dead ball situation (free kicks, goal kicks, restarts, etc.) the opposition must retreat 5 yards minimum.
5. Referees’ decision will be final. This tournament has a zero-tolerance policy against abuse directed at referees or officials. Should any team representative (player/official/parent) be reported by the referee to the organising committee, that team risks having points deducted or being asked to leave. All cases of misconduct will be reported to the appropriate County Association. This tournament is not only about developing young players but also young referees.
6. Goalkeepers are not permitted to pick the ball up from a back pass.
7. During free play, goalkeepers in all age groups are permitted to kick from hand or throw the ball, whichever they see fit at that time of play.
8. The retreat rule will be played in age groups up to and including Under 10’s.
9. Any teams registering late on the day of the tournament, shall forfeit their first game, with the opposition being awarded a 3-0 victory. If a team is not present and ready to play at their designated kick-off time, they shall forfeit the game with the opposition being awarded a 3-0 victory.
10. If any team has a complaint on any matter, other than referee’s decisions, a £10 deposit must accompany this to the organising committee. Deposits will only be refunded if the committee upholds the complaint.
11. Any player receiving a yellow card during the tournament will receive a 1 game match ban.
12. Any player receiving a red card during the tournament will be banned for the remainder of the tournament.
13. For health and safety, ALL players are required to wear shin pads, ALL jewellery or nose/earrings should be removed NOT taped and NO player is permitted to wear glasses unless they are special sports glasses.
E. Total amount of players allowed for teams stands at 6 starting players and 4 substitutes throughout the tournament. Substitutes can be used at any point during the game on a rolling subs basis.
F. The home team will provide a regulation match ball for the game:
· Size 3 - Under 7, Under 8, Under 9 and Under 10
· Size 4 - Under 11, Under 12, Under 13 and Under 14
· Size 5 - Under 15
G. The referees will be responsible for updating scores electronically on completion of games. Additionally, they will retain a hard copy of the results in case of discrepancies. In the event of any supposed errors, we ask you not to approach the referees, and please report to the administration tent to resolve the situation.
H. Each team must have an appointed first aider with their own first aid kit.
I. All teams must be in possession of a set of bibs or shirt change should there be a clash of colours. Away team will wear bibs in this circumstance.
J. For all group matches, the home team will have the pick of ends to play the game with the away side having kick off.
K. To enable everybody to enjoy the football that will be on display and to encourage child safeguarding, we politely request that photos/videos of matches are only taken when prior consent to do so has been sought from both team managers before the match. It is the team managers’ responsibility to ensure that parents/guardians have consented to their child’s image being taken and used.
L. Finally, team managers/organisers of teams winning any of the trophies in the tournament can hold them till the following year’s event. They shall be responsible for having their team’s name engraved on the trophy and returning them in good condition no later than 31st January 2025 to Ilchester Youth FC.
